Controller and steam link

I have a Samsung 4k smart tv and I installed Steam Link on it, however my pc is in the other room and my 2.4ghz controller doesnt work through the wall. I plug the controller reciever in the TV but it wont work. Is there a way to play games in my living room while my pc is in the other room?
