I’ve been trying to dual boot kali Linux and win 10 for 2 days now, I’ve done it plentiful of times before but now I’ve been running into some issues. This time is a little different, I’m trying to install it on 2 separate drives. I know how to do this (unplug the win 10 drive, install kali on the other drive, reboot with the win 10 drive in after installation and runs command for grub to recognize the win 10 drive) but when I hit start graphical installation, it try’s to boot up as normal but then I get a kernel sync error, etc etc or usb disconnect and it just freezes and never actually starts the installation, tried 3 different usbs, and tried all options for installation (non graphical) and also tried just to live boot same thing though, kernel error. I also re downloaded kali twice. I have a MSI gaming plus am4 b350 board with bios fully updated. Appreciate any help I would get.

I have the same motherboard and it works everything for me, can we get the full PC specs?

Sync and USB errors are mostly releated to physical issues, excluding the USB flash drivers, your I/O controller may be faulty and you should get issues also in Windows

EDIT: Have you tried re-downloading the .ISO? Check the hash

Don't unplug the window 10 drive and kali should detect it and ask you if you want to add it to your grub.

You then boot the Linux drive and select windows in grub.

That’s not my issue, the kali Linux install cant boot up. I’ll take pictures when I get home in 40 mins.

Try to disable completely the AMD iGPU from the bios, I don't think that the old debian version Kali uses supports that Ryzen CPU

I’ve tried doing that before actually, can you tell me how to exactly do it? Because mine is still on. We use the same board so it won’t be too difficult.

Yes but I have a Ryzen CPU without the iGPU so I can't really tell where that option is, I'm sure is somewhere between "Advanced" menu and "Integrated graphics configuration"

I’m dumb, didn’t think of that. I’ll let you know when I get back.

Try also to download another kali iso from there (weekly generated) http://cdimage.kali.org/kali-images/kali-weekly/

Or if you already did that, download the "stable" ones, it could also be the faulty iso which isn't your fault but the Kali developer ones
