Intel Discontinues Optane-Packing Core+ i7-8700, i5-8400, i5-8500 Models

I just read the news on Tom's hardware. This news is shocking. Optane is a good alternative for those who don't want to buy SSD for their devices just yet. But this one is a bummer from Intel. Whole story in the link below.

no, thats when optane came with the processor.

Also optane is not worth it. 16GB of optane can get you 120gb of ssd, and 32 can get you 240, I'd rather have 240GB of SSD for Windows + 2 or 3 fav games + chrome etc, then a slightly faster HDD.

What is your personal recommendation new SSD or optane with existing hdd?

What will be the approx. Cost difference between both?

Considering you can buy a 120GB SSD for the same price as a 16GB Optane on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-240GB-Solid-State-SDSSDA-240G-G26/dp/B01F9G43WU/), I'd say the SSD would be a better choice. It's compatible with more systems, you get way more space to put stuff on, and you can control what gets put on the SSD.
