CPU MOBO Compatibility Questions

My company is upgrading our existing towers for some employees and I am able to but some of the old hardware at an absolute steal. My questions is relating to the core I5 7500 processor that the towers have and if it would be compatible to replace the Pentium G5500 in my NAS server that has a B310 chipset. The extra cores would seem to help with trans-coding of my media in PLEX.

Nope it won't be compatible with your B310 chipset.  New mobo ddr4 and cpu ..  :)

Why the heck would he need new DDR4? Should just need a new mobo. What one do you have right now OP?

Oh my bad I made a mistake.. sorry!  I guessed his RAM was DDR3 … my bad...

Then how did you know he needed a new mobo and everything too if you didn't even look up the pentium he has now?

It was a typo on my original post...I have an H310.

It won't work then, 300 series mobos only work with 8000 and 9000 series CPUs. Need a 100/200 series chipset for 7000/6000 series CPUs.
