Considering the title of the post is "1st PC build", I'm not sure jumping straight into OCing is necessarily the best idea. And he already has a pretty well balanced and capable mobo+cpu combo.

Is it good to build or any parts that I choose might not last long?

I am not seeing anything that is overkill. A 2080 or 2080 ti would be overkill, but for 1080p/120Hz a 2060 is a pretty good fit. Of course it depends on what games he is playing.

An Intel cpu should give you slightly higher frame rates at 1080p high refresh rate gaming.

Slightly over your $1000 if you want to stick with an i5. Gives you the option to overclock though.
