help a newbie

ViveLaVita

So this is my first time ever when it comes to anything computer related.

I have an old pv which can hardly run games and i've been thinking on upgrading to something big.

All i know about PC's is self taught and i will appreciate constructive criticism.

I've been watching linus tech tips to help me understand and learn but i've come to a slight problem.

The build i'm planning to make is

CPU - Intel - Core i5-8600 3.1 GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU cooler - ARCTIC - Freezer 13 CO 4 CFM Ball Bearing CPU Cooler
motherbaord - MSI - H370 GAMING PRO CARBON ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
memory - G.Skill - Aegis 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
storage - 1 TB
GPU - Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3 GB Windforce OC Video Card
case - Carbide Spec Omega
SSD - 500GB

Power supply - Cooler Master MWE 600 Watt Silencio Fan, Modular 80 PLUS
Operating system - windows 10

I've used the site pcpartpicker.com and found out it miscalculated the watts the GPU needs.

I've tured to this site for help and it will be greatly appreciated.

Buudget isn't really all that matter bucause i am planning to work for months for this thing. but i would say around 1600$ maybe even 2000$ if i really wanna get a beast for a pc

Honestly, don't get the 1060 3gb unless you really really need CUDA. Get the RX 580

Faster RAM would help a bit if can spare the change, and buy 2 sticks of RAM so that you can use dual channel memory. So instead of 1x16gb get 2x8gb

  • CPU
    r5 5600x
  • Motherboard
    Arous b550 pro ac v1
  • RAM
    Tcreate 32gb ddr4 3600 cl18
  • GPU
    1660 super
  • Storage
    SN570 1tb
  • PSU
    Corsair CX750
  • Audio
    Lots of chi-fi iems
  • Operating System
    Windows 11 (lastest)

how does dual channel memory work?

Holy crap, that's a lot of money. Get a 1080 with a decent cooler if you can find one that's not overpriced around 600 bucks should be good

Long story short, 2 sticks of RAM is like having 2 straws to drink from instead of one. This is not the best analogy, but it's kinda what it is

600 watts are more than enough for a single 1080(ti). There are lots of great online tools for checking your recommended wattage!

75% of what I say is sarcastic

So is the rest probably

I'd definitely put more of my budget towards a better GPU. And probably more/faster RAM and more hard drive storage.

Then plan the build once you have the money. New stuff will come out by then, prices will have changed, and therefore recommended builds will change too.

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X Cooler: Corsair H100i Platinum SE Mobo: Asus B550-A GPU: EVGA RTX 2070 XC RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200MHz 16CL 4x8GB (DDR4) SSD0: Crucial MX300 525GB SSD1: Samsung QVO 1TB PSU: NZXT C650 Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow Monitor: Asus VG259QM (240Hz)

I usually edit my posts immediately after posting them, as I don't check for typos before pressing the shiny SUBMIT button.

Not that different from Europe. May I ask why you choose such mediocre parts which cost way less then your assumed budget?

Still your initial setup according to that budget is really odd, much under budget of 2k. Well you have some options provided now, good luck with the build.
