2200G + HDMI + Freesync = N/A

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

For the display running at 60Hz instead of 144Hz, have you tried changing the refresh rate of the monitor from your monitor's properties within Windows? When I tried FreeSync with my 2400G, I had the same issue and had to set the display to 144Hz from there. You get to the below menu by right clicking your desktop, selecting "Display settings",, scrolling down to "Advanced display settings" and clicking "Display adapter properties for Display (whichever number corresponds to the correct display)"

As for it being over HDMI, FreeSync must be turned on in the display's OSD (on screen display/menu) for it to function.

I built a computer for my step daughter for Christmas and I gave her my old HP Omen 25" 1080p 144hz Freesync monitor. I'm not sure which HDMI cord I'm using but I tried a few that I have around the house, and I'm not sure if it's even the problem, maybe someone can help..

I can't get 144hz to show up in AMD Radeon Settings (only says 60hz, and in Windows Display Settings) and Freesync can't be selected, it's just grayed out. I've tried using this monitor with my setup (in sig) and it works fine, although used a DP cable. I can try again, but don't really want to move things around if someone here can help me first, as I would have move my 32" screen which I don't like doing. I can't try that with hers because the motherboard only has an HDMI and DVI adapter.

The thing is, is that this monitor was my secondary monitor for my laptop before I built my new computer and I used it with HDMI and always had 144hz refresh rate, but my laptop used a GTX 1060 so I couldn't tell if the Freesync would or would not work through the HDMI.

Is there something I can do, will it not work through HDMI no matter what? I don't want to get another motherboard.. The 144hz at the minimum, should work with the HDMI..?

Unless it's HDMI 1.3 or higher, it won't work above 60Hz.

You might want to get a new HDMI cable and make sure that it has enough bandwidth.

Unless that HDMI cable is excessively long or especially shit, all HDMI cables will do  up to HDMI 2.0 bandwidth

That's what I was looking for. I kept going to the Advanced settings but I didn't notice the 'Display adapter properties for Display 1' because it's gray on both of our computers.  That allowed me to change it to 144hz and I finally found the Freesync in the OSD (never used it before).

Thanks everyone!
