Need help for a 4K build.

Olli_

Hi,

i am looking to upgrade my pc. The main objective of this build is so that I can game in 4K with little to no problems and also with use of art mainly photoshop for now.I currently have a build which consists of a i5 6500 and a GTX 1060 . but going to sell all my parts apart from the case to get funds for the new build so would need a new cpu gpu ram and a new psu.

I will also need to consider a 4K monitor as well. I have a 29” ultra wide which I might use as a second monitor not sure yet. I am a bit confused on what to go for here as I don’t usually spend this much and would like to get it right and not feel like I’ve waisted any money.

My budget will around max £2k not including the monitor which I would like to spend around 500 or so for.

My current case which I will use is a s340 elite.

I have two hdds that I would like to keep and also I have windows 10 but would like a m.2 ssd.

Any help will be much appreciated as I’m abit lost on what to go for. I think I will also overclock.

I’m happy  with either intel or amd

thanks in advanced and looking forward to the suggestions

Something i came up with quickly, didnt take into account any peripherals, so you may need to alter it.

You want as much gpu power as possible for 4K. I would aim for an RTX 2080. With a £2K budget that is within reach.

I guess you skimmed over his post ? He already has a case, W10 and HDD's to reuse.

Or maybe a 9900k build?

You have to add 400 £ for a 2080 ti if you want one. Would bring you to 2180 £

But I don't know if it would be worth the 33 % performance increase for + 65% in price.

I would say, save the 400 £ and add some 200 £ in 2 years and buy a new gen gpu from that money or even just save the 400 £ and sell the 2080 for the difference you need

More gpu power is always a good thing at 4K. The Ryzen option will give him the best for his money.

Thanks for the help I’ll have to look at the performance of a 2080 but I like the idea of a 9900 build. But a ti might be a bit better will have to do more research. Thanks again.

An R7 2700X will match the i9 in most games at 4K. At 1080p high refresh rates Intel would be faster with a 2080/2080 ti.
