Hey so,i'm building a new rig mainly for gaming, planning on getting win 10 on my future HDD,now i already got a pc with my files etc in,it runs on win7 64 bits

Question is since i have no patience to redownloaded ALL of my files, can i run the two HDD together, transfer my files to the new one without any problems?

Ps: it's kind of an old hdd, like REALLY old (almost 7 years now) i rly just want to transfer my games from it and that's pretty much it,ditching it after that

You can make a windows 10 install on a new drive, plug the old hard drive in, then transfer all your files without a problem.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Depending on what motherboard OP is using, it might reject the preexisting windows installation.

It's gonna be an Asrock b450m HDV

Booting to windows 7 might not work at all, B450 doesn't officially support it due to lack of native USB drivers. Pulling files from it should be unaffected.

there a usb patcher in support for that board could transfer files then reinstalll win 7 using patcher or it has ps2 suport to add the drivers after

Depending on the state of the Windows 10 upgrade feature for windows 7 installs, I'd be inclined to make the current installation of windows 7 into a windows 10 one to keep all programs and settings, then clone that to the new drive with something like EaseUS. More convenient, but would achieve a similar result.
