Hi guys, I am planning to build my pc for the first time. Please take a look at the build and I would appreciate if you can tell me if it's ok. Also, since I can only connect to the internet through wifi, can anyone suggest a wireless adaptor that is not too expensive?

I think he should stay with Nvidia cards, Nvidia has better support and better drivers. And although i don't think that particular 1060 is a good idea i think he should perhaps go for the MSI GTX 1060 as it is one of the best cards out there and come with a factory OC and the best cooling in the market

WHY? having one stick is always better than having two! Having two takes away upgradability and makes troubleshooting harder. Plus its probably more expensive

My budget is around $700 at most. I mainly play mobas like dota and some new games with medium settings.

Nvidia vs AMD is user preference I get it  Tho the RX580 8GB will outperform the 1060 3GB card.

 

But Ryzen loves fast dual channel RAM.

Please explain! I have no idea why using two of your RAM DIMMs would be better than just using one. the MoBo he wants has 4 DIMMs and if he uses 2 of them for 8 GB of RAM then he only has two left to put more in later.

Maybe get a quad-core CPU and use that remaining cash to get a slightly better GPU and SSD. otherwise, pretty good

If you are saying that one stick is better. You don't know things about ram. Stop please stop arguing it. I upgraded from a 8x1 stick to 2x4 and I had atleast a 5 FPS increase in every game! Same i3 CPU. Its so worth it and if he does want to upgrade you don't really need more than 16gb of Ram for gaming in this day and age.

He's using a Ryzen processor, which performs best with dual channel RAM. If he wanted to later, he could put another 2 4Gb sticks (or more) in and have 16Gb RAM so I wouldn't say he doesn't have upgradeability.

Your points are all true, the 580 will outperform the 1060 but as I've already said, he can always get a better 1060 (MSI would be my go-to) and it would cost less for similar performance. he could use that extra money for a better SSD, as he is only playing DOTA and such and those games use very little GPU power

if he goes for 1 stick, he will have the ability to go for 32 GB of RAM if he really wanted to. You are just cutting him off at 16, half of what I'm proposing.

Yes and no. RAM shouldn't directly affect FPS, the only way it does is if you run out of it while playing and since you got a 5 FPS to boost I'm guessing your either lying, got a fluke or misread something.

The only complaint I have is that its a MicroATX board and it doesn't have an Nvidia card (Which is my opinion, but the Mobo point still stands). but otherwise a really good build

I never denied it would give him better FPS on a Ryzen chip, I just said it wasn't worth the tradeoff for upgradability.

he's only losing 3 pci-e slots with m-atx, not a big deal unless he can somehow justify needing more than 3 pci-e connectors.

This is about single channel and dual channel RAM giving better FPS>  You did infact say he was lying.  Ryzen performs better with dual channel RAM, proven by testing as well as stated by AMD.  There's no way around it.  Dual channel is the way to go.

 

Btw, Herman's build allows for 32GB of RAM for the same price as his original build.  Done and done.

True, But I think that a MicroATX board looks quite ugly in an ATX case, and yes I know you put a micro ATX case on the list, but I think he should swap that out for something he likes better. Cases are mostly aesthetic choices.

He said he got better FPS on an i3, not a Ryzen chip. I never said it wouldn't give him better FPS on a Ryzen. And i never said he was lying, just said he might've been
