I am building an $800 build for a friend and looking for thoughts. He will be gaming at 60 fps and does not need peripherals, monitors, or OS.

Here is what I current have. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kDZWLJ

Are there any cheaper MOBOs that would allow me to bump the GPU?

Quick question are you just gonna rely on the 500gb SSD?

Probably gonna throw in a TB HDD. Forgot to mention that.

Doesn't the 2600x come with a cooler?  If so, use that.  Or go with the 2600 and put that savings to a GPU too.

Otherwise it's pretty good.

You don't really wanna cheap out on the mobo if you're gonna get an x series chip, looks fairly solid (with the 1tb hdd in mind). If you're okay with used you can get 1070s on eBay for like $220, if not thats understandable. You might be able to get more budget with cheaper ram, I dont know too much about ryzen personally but if youve got a gpu the ram should be nearly as important for gaming as a better gpu

that cooler isn't much better than the stock cooler, and a B350/450 Pro4 will do just fine.

Read reviews, I have had them and trashed them, but go buy it and have fun if it works decently.
