Triple channel memory

First of all sorry for the terrible drawing you are about to see but I don’t have an actual picture as. I’m not currently at home.

My motherboard has triple channel memory (12 34 56) and am unsure how to place them in. I have 4x4gb sticks but am willing to switch to (A, 12gb) if it means faster performance (averaging 5gb usage in Csgo) any questions just ask currently busy. Parts in bio.

Used motherboard and I can’t find any clarification when turning pc on. Even then, I don’t think in 2010 they expected someone to be using 16 gigabyte in dual channel

Like @NinJake  asked, what motherboard?  Then google it.  The manual is out there somewhere.

Yep, triple channel was briefly used in the X58 era motherboards. If you know your motherboard's model number you can find the manual online. The manual for my Gigabyte UD3R from that era has instructions on how to use the ram slots in dual/triple/single configuration.

Basically though, as a guide, use the first of each pair of slots for triple (i.e. A1 / B1 / C1). If dual, no clue, cause why limit bandwidth.

edit: Yea- your bio lists the same motherboard I have. You can find the manual via google, then do some reading, then do some hardware-ing.

So should I downgrade to 12 gigabytes to not have an outlier.  Like I said I wouldn’t mind. Just so I can fill up 1 3 and 5? Thanks for reading the thread thoroughly and answering my main question regarding if I should use 4 or 3.

Can't answer that. You have the parts so see whether dual/triple configuration works best, or if CSGO cares.
