Hey guys...

I'm planning to build a new system and  I was wondering which type of storage should I get for this system.

I already have a WD Caviar Black 1TB hdd which I gonna reuse and I was thinking about this drives:

1x SSD Corsair Force GT 120gb - Uses only for os and few apps

1x WD Black 1TB - Uses only for backups

1x WD Black 2TB - Uses for storing games, apps, downloads, etc...

1x WD RED 4TB - Uses exclusively for my video editing stuff... Which consumes a lot of my 1TB drive....

I was wondering what if I buy the WD RED 4TB instead of the black one to use it only for this video editing stuff and save money. Do you guys think that 5400RPM (WD RED) would be worst just for this situation comparing to the 7200RM (WD Black) which is a lot more pricey?

What do you guys think about this storage diagram?

Thanks!!

All of those drives are legitimate options for their intended use. Were you planning to purchase them all at once?

Basically... I already have an 1TB Caviar Black WD which I gonna reuse it... Although budget is not an issue to buy a 120gb ssd, 2tb caviar black and 4tb caviar red... Since the 4tb red is cheaper than the 4tb black...

Why is the backup drive so small in comparison to your data drives? Should be the other way around, backups can grow and grow, depends on your backup scheme but who wants less space for backups of actual data?

I would add don't ever buy a 5900rpm drive unless you like a drive that is slow as hell to annoy you.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

The question is: Does really a 7200rpm drive such wd black screw the wd red which is 5400rpm? The thing is: Only for keeping video editing stuff and nothing more?

The price difference is pretty significant, and the Black only really shows a huge advantage in random performance. If you're using it for storage of media projects, the 4TB red should perform almost as well.

Where are you shopping/located?

Caviar blacks aren't worth the money imo. Barracudas are only slightly slower and quite cheaper.

What about the rest of the parts?
