CPU doesnt boost to maximum

Go to solution Solved by X_X,

The default for that CPU is for it to run all cores at a maximum ratio of 36x which at 100MHz BCLK means 3.6GHz. 40x ratio is for 1 core active only, the other 3 cores need to be stopped at C-State 3 or higher.

Now there is an errata that allows Haswell to run all cores at full turbo, ie 40x ratio in this case but that requires one of the first BIOS revisions with pre-fix microcode, if it even exists or a modified BIOS.

Hi,

I am not very familiar with this forum things, so if i chose the wrong "sector" for my problem please correct me and i try to correct it.

so now to my problem: (rig at the bottom)

I need my cpu to boost to his max of 4Ghz but it doesnt do it.

i already downloaded several programs which should push my cpu to its limit ... but the highest i reached was 3.6Ghz.

in another forum i read someone had a similar problem with the exact same cpu and it magically disappeared after flashing his bios....

now i tried to flash my bios but i dont know which exact motherboard i have. Windows just says "Baseboard Model  :   Not Available"

so i looked the datasheet for my pc up where i found the name but not the exact version and now i am standing here which bios i choose:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/70995/Intel-Desktop-Boards-with-Intel-H87-Chipset

one only says that it only works for cpu before 2014. So only the other one would make sense.

Arrived at the bios i couldn't find a option for flashing the bios.

Should i just change my usb-stick, which i use for flashing at the start of the booting order and it flashes automatically the bios ?

my rig:

Geforce gtx 1050 Ti

i7-4790S @3.2Ghz (boost up to 4.0Ghz)

16 gb ram

bios version : AMI 80.19  (its in german)

HP pavilion 500-310ng

changed the gpu, added 8gb ram and changed the power supply

CPUs don't auto boost to max frequency on all cores. If you want to get 4.0Ghz, do it manually.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Zotac RTX 5090 SOLID OC/ x2 WD_BLACK NS770 2TBs/ Corsair HX1000i/ NZXT H5 Flow

if you talk about doing it manually in the bios. I already tried to do that ...

i couldnt find any options for "editing" settings like this. My bios might be locked or just so "simple" to prevent warranty abuse ?.

otherwise with programs i couldnt find anything which does this (?)...
