I'd like to ask to you guys some question regarding Amps and DAC's, please answer and don't derial the thread I am well aware of good amps and DAC's, I just have a few concerns.

1. How well an Astro MixAmp will work for music? (Using an ATH-M50 and an AD700x)

2. Putting the price besides, what is better a FiiO E18 or FiiO E12?

3. What is a good Desktop (not portable amp) under $300?

4. Does amps and DAC's improve the "depth" of the music?

-Thanks :)

1. It'll play music

2. Once again, they don't really CHANGE much about the signal, so there's not much to compare

3. O2+ODAC.  That iFi thing is more desktop-sh, but a bit more I believe, and it's two units (the iCan and iDAC).  Your onboard is really the best though since it's free with your motherboard.

4. There's no such thing as depth in music.  Sound is one-dimensional and a discrete function of time.  If you want more information, there are free MIT classes, blogs, and videos on youtube.  There are some good links in the FAQ.

How well the Objective2 O2 Headphone Amp combo with Odac will work with an HE-400?

About the same as your onboard or a decent portable music player.  If you want an HE-400 I'd wait for the version with the new headband coming out soon though.  The HE-400i or w/e.

What I mean by improve "depth" is if it will improve how all things sound, like if I will be able to here all types of sound in a much clearer way; kinda hard to explain like will those sound be more noticeable when I plug in one?

It will not improve the sound.  You can always turn up the volume for a "cleaner", "punchier", more "vibrant" sound.
