confusion about hdmi 2.0 and hdcp 2.2

i am very confused about HDCP 2.2,

 

can i use an HDMI 2.0 device and cable and play 4k on an HDCP 2.2 port on a tv if the content itself doesnt use HDCP 2.2?

and is HDCP basically HDMI 2.0 just with the HDCP 2.2 added to it?

if HDCP 2.2 is a different cable altogether from HDMI 2.0 then what exactly does it do or what are its specs other than the copy right encryption thing?

same hdmi 2.0 cable...i have it on my tv..i dont think my video card has it but i play 4k content fine. so i think it has to do with players and such...maybe cable boxes?
