Hi, linustechtips community! My friend recommended this website to build my first computer. I do not know much about computers, so I need your help!

My budget is $500.

I will use my PC to surf the internet, play games, and occasionally program.

My budget can be exceeded but not by big amount.

Thank you in advance!

use a cheaper hard drive, case, MAYBE motherboard, and memory so you can get a better cpu or gpu (when i say cheaper I dont mean worse, cheaper part with same performance)

The HDD is fine, cheaping out on cases is a good way to make it hard to build and upgrade in and memory is pretty essential for Ryzen.

For what he's doing, this build is perfectly fine.

That case probably barely even holds a Mini-ITX motherboard

There seems to be a possible incompatibility issue.

It says:

"Some AMD B350 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Raven Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."

Recent user reviews on newegg says the bios is already updated for the ryzen 2000 series CPUs.
