Motherboard or CPU dead?

Go to solution Solved by z3r0r0,

Hello guys.

The issue was resolved by replacing the CPU. Maybe my overclock settings were not correct due to the limited VRM options for the motherboard I have...  Might as well limit my OC settings or not OC at all and read more about overclocking my board. Thanks for the help guys.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X

Mobo: X470 AORUS GAMING 5 WIFI

RAM: Trident Z RGB GTZR 3200Mhz - 8GBx2

CPU Cooler: Auraflow 120

PSU: Seasonic focus+ gold 650fx

GPU: ROG STRIX-GTX1060-O6G-GAMING

Hello, I'm new in the forums.

I'm seeking advice whether if the Mobo or CPU is dead?

The problem is whenever I boot up the desktop, It will boot up and the screen remains black(NO POST). I tried all the solutions and my Mobo has an indicator on the lower right where the CPU led is Red meaning CPU failed or not detected. The only thing that I didn't tried is having extra parts to isolate the problem.

Before the problem happened, I updated my Bios to its latest firmware. After a while, it is still running perfectly with no errors. Then sometime later, my problem arrived.

Yes I OC my CPU via Ryzen Master but I'm not using the machine under heavy load and I only use it during the weekends. I just stress test it like 4-5 times since I built it and it was running fine with no errors.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

How about taking out the cpu and checking for bent pins on the mobo? I know I may sound a little stupid as you didn't mess with the CPU in any way but whats the harm in checking

I forgot to tell that I also reseated the CPU and I spent 30 mins on checking every row/column to see if there were bent pins. I also tried using a credit card to see if there were any bent pins but no bent pins... I also properly ground myself.

ok, i was gonna say that something might have shorted out, but then you were grounded.....

is there any hardware store near you? or some friend who also has a ryzen build? I would recommend putting the CPU in another mobo and then trying for a post on that system. You could also insert some other CPU into your current mobo and try for a post. This will most likely isolate the error and will let you know what is fault-the CPU or mobo.

before that try clearing the cmos and flasing the latest bios from the manufacturers website again.

Cannot reflash the bios on my current situation but will take note of that. I will try borrowing from a friend and will post the results here. thanks for the help.

k best of luck. Just as a side note, im pretty sure ryzen mobos can flash without cpu or ram.

They can't that's why you need a first gen chip to get a 300 series board a bios that will work with 2nd gen
