good point but I just been stuck with this laptop that cant run anything and I really want to upgrade. Is the better mobo necessary? Will it effect the life of the build? What makes it better? Will it cause any problems (as it is now)?

So a more expensive motherboard is better for OC and has a few more features like? Will the cheaper motherboard work fine just I need to be a little cautious about oc?

A B450M Pro4 is 79.99$ at Microcenter, so get that. It should be fine for OC (although you will not be able to push it extremely far)

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

I asked some one if the B450M Pro4 or the Asus PRIME B450M was better and people said the Asus was better, do you think the pro4 is better? thanks

I know, it's just that if he does have one then he's good.

It's also 79.99$ at Amazon, but it's Prime-only.

Asus is known to overprice their products because they're Asus, so I have a gut feeling that you don't get much for what you pay compared to ASRock

I was 3 years old in 2006 so I probably didn't catch that. I feel like ASRock has a little bit better pricing than asus though.

wow, same. It looks like ASRock has better price to performance but Asus might have better "quality"

quality is relative. Oh well, I still recommend the pro4 b450, for what you're doing. I ended up getting the gigabyte z390 aorus pro
