Hi

I'm getting a 1600X for my 1050ti build, was gonna get the 1500X but 1600X was only £20 cheaper and has extra cores so why not. I've heard about CPU bottlenecking but I have no idea if it's going to effect my gaming performance compared to the 1500X? I feel like an idiot for asking this but what even is CPU bottlenecking and will it effect my performance? Thanks

higher model cpu is always better, if you have a 1600x, the cpu wont be a bottleneck, the gpu will, so you will need a better gpu if you want to get rid of the gpu,

theres even a site to calculate the bottleneck, and see which part is causing it, https://thebottlenecker.com/calculator

the site recommends you to swap out your 1050ti for a 1070ti, so your gpu is the weak part here, not the cpu

That site does show bottlenecks but they do specifically say not to use it as reference when buying parts. Its pretty easy to say which gpu to pick, so @dmxdwd get an rx 580 or better

Because you can't "calculate" a bottleneck:

well its an estimate, so we can get an idea of how hard its being bottlenecked, in the thread it talks about some weird recommendations, i get it ,but i've never had an issue tbh

I don't think you really understand what a bottleneck really is. What's your definition of a bottleneck? Don't go around giving recommendations if you don't know what you're talking about.

They literally have a disclaimer on the site saying not to use this as reference when buying parts.
