Question about vega64 strix

perttila

Okay so, im thinking of upgrading from 1060 to vega64 strix.  My setup is cpu ryzen 7 1700x oc 3,8ghz 1,35v, 2x8gb ddr4 2133mhz, 1 m2 ssd 250gb, 4x 140mm fans and 2 120mm fans 750w gold edison m psu.

so my question is would my powersupply be able to provide enough power for the system or should i just get a new one i am currently strict on the budget. also i am not going to overclock vega so i wouldnt push more watts than it already comes with. i havent seen any graphs showing vega64 strix power draw so that is why im here :) Thank you already for the help and have a nice xmas! also is there risk involved playing with the psu limit?

750W is fine. I wouldn't touch the PSU limit. To do it you'd need to 100% know what you're doing and you would need to be able to afford to A. replace your PSU if it dies and B. replace your whole system if the PSU kills your system.

If you're asking if it's safe for the Vega 64 then yeah it should be fine.

If you're asking if it's safe to adjust the PSU limit, then I'd say no. I just wouldn't do it. You never know what could happen.

The vega64 will happily draw ~260watts at full load with stock clocks, but it's all (well close enough to say all) over the 12v rail.

That PSU has a single 12v rail rated at ~60amps, you need ~20amps so it should be fine.
