Need help with RAM choice for Ryzen 5 2600

Kyle23

I bought a Ryzen 5 2600 and an MSI B450 Tomahawk but I'm not sure what speed ram to get. MSI says it can handle up to 3466 MHz with overclocking but I don't know how to do that and I don't want to mess with settings manually. Should I get a slower speed?

Pick the cheapest RAM that you are comfortable with brand wise that is at least 3000 MHz. If you get something that is too fast it should just run at the fastest speed that it can run anyway (e.g. if your mobo supports up to 3200 MHz and you have like 3466MHz it should just run at 3200MHz).

Current Desktop Build | 2200G | RX 580 4GB | 8GB RAM | CTRL | Logitech G Pro Wireless

If I get 3000 MHz will I have to do anything out of the box to make it work?

No

edit: You might need to enable XMP but that isn't difficult.
