2400 or 3200

I have a 2400 DDR4 Ram 8gb.

I'm looking to buy a 8gb 3200 (I know I'll have less speed with 2400) and later upgrade the 2400 when I've enough money.

I also feel there will not be noticeable FPS difference between 2*2400 and  2*3200 in gaming.

Thoughts? what will be the difference.

 

Note: I've Ryen 3 1200 OC to 3.7

gtx 1060 OC

it won't be a huge deal either way.  Get another 2400 speed, it'll be cheaper now and upgrading ram later won't be worth the money. 

 

Sure, Ryzen likes faster ram but you already have the 2400, so grab another 8GB and enjoy.

That's what I feel too but I may upgrade next gen ryzen 3 when it gets releases next year. will 3200 show a difference at that time?

If I add another 2400 as you said will I see a performance difference as I've 2 rams now?

It probably will, from all I've read.  If the price isn't a big deal, you CAN get the 3200 now.  Then sell the 2400 and your CPU, to get the new Ryzen.  It's kinda of a 6 of one, half dozen of the other.  You can always get 2400 now, enjoy it for a 6+ months and then sell the entire old setup for a new Ryzen one.

 

I don't know pricing in India, so you have to weigh that.  For me, if you are gaming at 1080p and happy with it, I'd just get another cheap 2400MHz kit and just enjoy it.  You can chase faster or better all day long, gotta just make a call and stop at some point.

 

I assume you have 2x 4GB sticks now?  So get another 2x 4GB sticks of 2400MHz and rock on.

@jstudrawa The prices are still heavy here  Your answer is satisfying! I have a single 8gb stick now. Hopefully, another 8 should show a noticeable difference
