so I'm trying to talk my parents into folding on there computer. its only a 2 core but i figured every little bit helps. but they think that if they start folding that stanford will steal all there information and i was telling them what would the school gain from this and why would someone who is trying to help people steal from you but they don't understand and I'm not trying to force them to do anything but i want them to actually understand it and they wont listen to me because of the whole stealing there stuff. so what I'm getting at is. is there any way that the school can or will take there information and how can i assure them of it?

". Our servers are behind a firewall and are configured for high security. To ensure the integrity of program downloads, all executable files are digitally signed on a secure computer. Our software will upload and download data only from our data server here at Stanford. The Cores are also digitally signed (see below) to make sure that you're getting the true Stanford cores and nothing else. "

'The only time F@H connects to the internet is to access and upload new work units. There is no internet connection left open: once the transaction with the server is complete, the connection is closed. F@H accesses and uploads work units at the same point in time, so this connection is brief and farily hard to access. Secondly, each work unit is scanned to make sure no code is being slipped in along with it, and work units are only downloaded from Stanford, which maintains an enterprise-quality level of security on their servers.

This is why of the millions of computers folding, there has never been a known intrusion. Ever.

The program is also closed source.

i may sound stupid, but what do you mean by folding yor pc? never heard about it :D
it means that you use your computer power to help recearch stuff like cancer and alzheimers

If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough it will be believed.
