Laptop doesn't recognize graphics processor?

I had to reinstall Windows 10 as it was really buggy and repairing it wouldn't fix it. Upon searching for updated drivers after reinstalling, I found that Intel refused to update my graphics card. I didn't know why until I looked at my device manager, which is supposed show the Intel HD graphics 520 as my display adapter. That's what it was on Windows before the reinstall, but now it's using "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", and it doesn't look pretty. I can't change the brightness and the screen tearing is unbearable. How do I force my laptop to utilize the proper graphics processor?

 

Edit: The laptop is an Acer r5 571T, with a 6200U, If you look it up make sure you specify the processor or it'll show you the latest model.

Thats what I said I did, it doesn't recognize my graphics as intel and my PC doesn't show it.

showing up as "MS Basic Display Adapter" is normal behaviour, no matter if it's integrated graphics or dedicated graphics card, They do this when there's no driver.

 

If you did download drivers from Intel and force it to install but get a fail, that's the thing that has gone wrong.

It's not that they fail, it's that it doesn't recognize me as having an intel graphics card at all. I said that in my post. Intel says they can't update it because there's nothing to update when there clearly is if my graphics driver isn't showing.

Additionally DDU is for AMD and NVIDIA, I have integrated intel. Plus Plus this isn't the first time i've reinstalled Windows and i've never had this issue. Intel doesn't think I have any drivers to update -- which isn't true.

DDU has a Intel option

ok tell me how i'm going to uninstall a driver that hasn't even been downloaded, the entire problem is that it won't download a driver. i'm gonna install a program to uninstall the intel driver I don't have

so you're using whatever dumb app Intel created for driver installation? Don't use that crap, follow this guide

So I totally misdiagnosed the situation here and made one crazy logical leap. Intel's website really wants you to use their driver install assistant and the install assistant insisted that I didn't have anything to update. Since the driver wasn't showing up I assumed my PC just didn't know I had integrated graphics at all. I just downloaded the graphics driver myself and installed it, works fine now. I'm sorry about that fellas.
