Bottleneck Issues with 1080

N1C2010

I'm planning on upgrading my GPU to a 1080 would my i5 4570 bottleneck the GPU at all? If so what would be the best CPU to upgrade to keep up with the GPU?

There will be a bottleneck. CPU is a bit old now. For CPU upgrade, I'd need to know what resolutions you're playing at, also what other tasks you're going to do with your PC.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | CPU Cooler: Stock AMD Cooler | Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) | RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 | GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Zotac Mini | Case: K280 Case | PSU: Cooler Master B600 Power supply | SSD: 1TB  | HDDs: 1x 250GB & 1x 1TB WD Blue | Monitors: 24" Acer S240HLBID + 24" Samsung  | OS: Win 10 Pro

Audio: Behringer Q802USB Xenyx 8 Input Mixer |  U-PHORIA UMC204HD | Behringer XM8500 Dynamic Cardioid Vocal Microphone | Sound Blaster Audigy Fx PCI-E card.

Home Lab:  Lenovo ThinkCenter M82 ESXi 6.7 | Lenovo M93 Tiny Exchange 2019 | TP-LINK TL-SG1024D 24-Port Gigabit | Cisco ASA 5506 firewall  | Cisco Catalyst 3750 Gigabit Switch | Cisco 2960C-LL | HP MicroServer G8 NAS | Custom built SCCM Server.

There is a huge bottleneck there.  Don't bother.  Wait until you upgrade mobo cpu and ram then get that video card.  Because with your current CPU your going to be losing a lot of FPS my friend.  Also there will be dips to 30's and 40's ................. Totally pointless upgrade.

If I was going to get a 1080 would be playing at 1440p and primarily gaming don't do any video work or anything like that

You can not game @ 1440p with that CPU man.  I mean you could but its going to be laggy and slow.  Cuz your CPU is bringing down your graphic card.

I know that hence in my original post I asked if there is a bottle neck what would be an appropriate CPU to upgrade to?

How much does a 1080 cost in Australia? I'd get a new system tbh. Part out your current system for extra cash. I'd recommend Ryzen build.

Price can vary because you can only get them used but range from $450 to $900 AUD. I was definitely considering selling my current system just thought if I could get by without a compete upgrade I would.

well, a 2600 would be a cheap upgrade, with a great path to go with it.

Appreciate that. So would a 2600 manage with a GTX 1080 at 1440p? And is a Ryzen build a better bang for your buck gaming rig compared to intel?

it should go pretty well in most titles, and around summer next year there will be new zen 2 chips, so you also have a good upgrade path if you're not satisfied later
