does anyone have experience with the quality of this hakko clone?

its a third of the price so I'm curious where they are saving the money to make it possible to produce for that cheep

That's not bad, but you could get a real FX-888D for $30 more. I would save up for the extra week or however long it takes. I think the real thing will be worth it, if nothing more than for the warranty of a reputable company.

The clones are garbage. Not even worth $20 imo. A friend of mine picked up a clone and the iron tip wasn't even tined properly. That and I don't think the temp control actually did anything. I would just do yourself a favor and get a real one.
