RTX questions

xReqt

I just want to ask a few questions if anyone knows the answer that would be awesome!

1) With the RTX 2070 MSI ARMOR how can I do 144hz gaming as its not got a DVI slot.

2) Is the RTX 2070 MSI ARMOR A good pick as I'v got a i7-8700 (non K) to pair it with and I'm looking to not upgrade after for at-least 2-3 years after this purchase.

3) Does the RTX 2070 match a GTX 1080 or is it slightly worse/better

I wan't to be able to game 144hz no problem for hours on end.(12 hours some days)

1) You should use Display Port, if your monitor is an old school dvi-d dual link you'll need an adapter or a cable that connects display port on the GPU to dvi-d dual link monitor

2) yes it's a fine pairing.

3)the RTX 2070 is pretty much an overclocked 1080 so expect slightly superior numbers in most games, and usually older dx11 only titles might still give the 1080 a small edge.

4) these cards can work 24/7 so no issues there just make sure cooling is okay.

@Princess Cadence I'v never heard of a Display port? Is that something similar to a HDMI? If so could you link me one on Amazon UK and do I just plug and play?

the armor coolers have improved a bit compared to the last gen (horrible), but the msi binning process still exists. the armor cards get the worst binned processors together with the aero.

A bit, maybe this helps you

btw, not sure if you need an active or passive adapter for that, so I'll leave that to her

@LukeSavenije What do you mean? With the displayport will I be able to do 144hz? Also what do you mean any adapters... Do I just buy a displayport and plug 1 side into the card and the other into the monitor and its done just like that?

Displayport can handle that. Yeah, you don't need any adapters, just a displayport cable
