Mic not working/ too quiet

I just received a usb audio adapter in the mail, and I plugged it in and set it up with my HyperX cloud alphas. The adapter i got is the Plugable USB audio adapter. So I got the thing set up and I can hear the audio nice and good, but then when I try my mic, it is acting up. When I view the test my microphone setting in windows (10), even when I make really loud noises, the bar doesn't move, and it only picks up any audio coming from the mic when I plug and unplug the jack. I went into properties and tried to raise the gain on it, but there is no gain bar for some reason. Does anyone know how to fix this?

No gain slider is a very odd problem. You can try this: https://antlionaudio.com/blogs/news/what-to-do-if-your-modmic-is-too-quiet

Also try a different USB port, may be an issue with your USB port and that particular adapter.
