Me and a friend are trying to build a DIY vacuum cleaner, and we used an EDF (electric ducted fan) to provide the suction. As expected however, despite fact that there's plenty of power, a ducted fan doesn't have the static pressure required to be used in a vacuum cleaner. Most of those therefore use a "blower" style fan. So I was just thinking, wouldn't it be possible to modify the duct into a blower by cutting a hole in the side and closing the back? Would that actually work or is that thought too simple? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
