40mm vs 50mm drivers? Is driver size important?

TimidMage66

I like the look of the Steelseries Articus 3. It seems to have good reviews, the headband looks pratical, and the bluetooth version could be good for using it with my phone (as well as my planned PC setup). However, I heard it has 40mm drivers.

I wish to know how much of a difference 50mm drivers are compared to 40mm drivers. What are the audio differences? I heard 50mm has a bigger soundstage, but would it be worth it? Is there any sound quality difference?

(also, is the Articus 3 any good?)

a good quality 40mm can beat 50mm. Sound is very subjective, you should test them both before buying.

in theory bigger speaker can generate "bigger" sound, becasue they can vibrate air molecules more than smaller ones.

but since the distance between your ear and the speakers is minimal, 40 & 50mm should be hard to distinguished for regular joe's.

How good are the Artics for the price though? I personally don't plan to spend more than £100 on a headset. I just thought they were good for the features, mainly the headband and the bluetooth.
