I'd still get the 2700x just solely based on price. It performs the same at the 7900, and around the same as the 9700 while being incredibly cheaper.

And with the 2700x you'll be leaving an upgradable lane open with AM4 which should still be good for another generation or two, like you said.

Hi guys,

This is more of a planned upgrade build, so i am telling you what i have right now first:

OS: Windows 10 Pro x64
CPU: Intel i7 6700 3.4Ghz Box. (4 Cores/8 Threads)
CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-D15
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 3200 PC4-24000 16GB 2x8GB CL14 (2133Mhz)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero (Chipset Z170)
GPU: Asus ROG Strix Geforce GTX 1070 Gaming 8GB GDDR5
PSU: Enermax Platimax 750W Modular 80 Plus Platinum
Case: Thermaltake Core X31 RGB Edition USB 3.0 with clear side panel.
SSD1: Kingston HyperX Savage SSD 240GB SATA3
SSD2: SanDisk Ultra II SSD 960GB SATA3
HDD1: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM010 6GB/s 1TB 7200rpm 64MB Cache.

Budget & Location:

I live in Europe. It is a planned upgrade that I want to do within the next 4 ~ 6 months, so I guess I could go between 800 to 1200 euros (Mobo/CPU/Memory). Definitely would want to keep my graphics card as long as possible. Still, I am open to hearing any options.

What's my aim?

Both Gaming and Streaming AAA titles.

My monitors:
Main: ASUS IPS 27" Wide 1440p (2560 x 1440) 144Hz. Use it for the games
Secondary: LG IPS 29" Ultra Wide (2560 x 1080) 60Hz.. To display SLOBS and other stuff while streaming

Why am i Upgrading?

A couple of months ago I got into streaming and noticed I would definitely need extra power to both play and stream titles like Battlefield V, Black Ops 4 and Fallout 76 on the same PC at a great quality (preferably at ultra settings) at a framerate that doesn't feel sluggish, hopefully between 85-120 FPS.

What I get right now? CPU is always struggling on Battlefield V, Even while using Nvidia Inspector I can randomly pull 50 ~ 65 fps (they feel terribly sluggish though) while streaming with Streamlabs OBS. These are the video settings:

FOV: 70
ADS FOV: Off
Motion Blur: 0%
ADS DOF Effects: Off
Chromatic Aberration: Off
Film grain: Off
Vignette: Off
Lens Distortion: Off
DX12 Enabled: Off
High Dynamic Range: Off
Future Frame Rendering: On
Vertical Sync: Off
UI Upscaling: Off
GPU Memory Restriction: Off

Texture Quality: Medium
Texture Filtering: Low
Lighting Quality: Medium
Effects Quality: Medium
Post Process Quality: Low
Mesh Quality: Medium
Terrain Quality: Medium
Undergrowth Quality: Medium
Antialiasing Post-processing: TAA Low
Ambient Occlusion: Off

SLOBS SETTINGS (1080p):

OUTPUT:
Streaming:
Audio track: 3
Encoder: NVENC
Rate control: CBR
Bitrate: 6.000
Keyframe Interval: 1
Preset: High Quality (Two-Pass encoding activated)
GPU: 0
B-frames: 2

Recording:
Recording format: mp4
Encoder: NVENC
Rate control: CBR
Bitrate: 20.000
Keyframe Interval: 1
Preset: Default (Two-Pass encoding activated)
GPU: 0
B-frames: 2

I am open to whatever helps me reach my aim, doesn't matter if it is Intel or AMD. The GPU I would like to keep for as much as I can but also would like to hear what you guys have to say about it.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

I'd probably go over to a 2700/x, 16-32gb of 3000+mhz memory. That will definitely help with streaming.

Thanks for the response!

Not the 1st one to suggest me AMD over Intel and i can see why i would benefit from double the cores and threads! Specially if i want to stream from the same PC. I have also been suggested to go for the i7 7900k which is only about 140 euros more, but honestly i am not sure what to do, you know? 2 years ago i invested on my current PC which at the time i didn't know it was an already dying platform that ended with the 7700.

With future-proofing in mind, which would be a wiser choice?

A) AMD Ryzen 7 2700x with an X470 Mobo + 3000+ ram and overclock.

B) Intel i7 9700K with an Z390 Mobo + 3000+ ram and overclock.

I know Ryzen 3 will be up next year and i've heard they will use the same socket, and who knows if intel 9th generation was born already dead.

Oh man, so many doubts...
Help is still appreciated, thanks.
