VA panels are the in between compromise between TN and IPS. You have better color accuracy and viewing angles, but slower response times than a TN panel. You also get higher refresh rates and lower response times (generally), but worse color accuracy than an IPS panel.

My first monitor was a 1ms tn panel and the poor off angle viewing bothered me so I moved to a VA panel for my new one. I would have gone IPS but the price difference at the time I bought was more than I was willing to pay.

VA is imo the least worst out of the 3 LCD panel types.

TN has terrible pciture overall, and IPS suffers IPS glow.

VA suffers slow pixel response, BUT so long as u research befor purchase, and check reviews (not manufactuer specs) in regards to pixel response, you may be able to find a monitor or 2 that have accetable Pixel resposne times. However if ur sensetive to visual artifacts, then stay away from VA as it WILL have ghosting to some degree.. whether its noticable or not is down to an individuals eyes.

I for example cant stand LCD.. TN and IPS look like crap to me due to their drawbacks, and VA while its 'still' picture looks better than the other 2, when in motion the ghosting sticks out like a sore thumb to me. This is why i have stuck with Plasma for so long and am waiting on a self emmisive display tech to release around the 40" size range, befor i replace my ageing screen. IF i had no choice however, i would still pick VA, i'd just make sure to find one with the absolute fastes pixel response one can get with such a panel.

Not anymore, Those issues are over in modern VA panel.

Even a good TN panel can have a color that is almost as good as IPS nowadays, Display are evolving.

But in general, Yes VA panel is in between TN/IPS.

The viewing angle still a bit annoying but those responstime and ghosting jibberish are not worth mentioning anymore nowadays unless you bought a cheap VA panel from 10 years ago or something.

From what I've seen this is true. But a weird thing that I've seen on this monitor is that it shows little to no ghosting on games but many people have said that watching videos and Netflix and what not are just the worst experience with really bad response tims. This is a 700 dollar monitor that is on sell on Outletpc for 550 which is really low even on sale. So this might be refurbished I'm not sure. But thanks for your input.

Maybe because video games are fast paced while movies most of the times are not.

That really does depend on what yoru comparing against and how sensetive u are to visual artifacts like ghosting.

Against 'old' VA screens, sure they are much better. But comapred to self immesive displays of old (CRT and Plasma) ..and new (OLED), they are still slow and still show ghosting.

So what has been said about TN vs VA vs IPS .. is still true.  How much of it you notice is down to the individual.
