so if i do not search a specific website, i get an error, but if i search a website, it loads. what? i am on my ipad can someone help?

um, you on a personal network? or is it on like school or public network? because it could simply be a new firewall if its an internet connection you don't own.

For some reason Chrome believes the google certificate is not valid, this happens for various reasons

 

- You have a messed up system time and date, which will result the certificate not valid

- Your chrome install is messed up and doesn't have the proper certificates

I have also seen this happen on a school or work network where the administrators are monitoring network traffic.

That is a captive portal which redirects to Google

Scenario 1 - Someone on that network is attempting to intercept your traffic. By going to advanced and bypassing it, you're allowing them (malicious or not) to read/watch/record your traffic.

Scenario 2 - If you are using old version of the browser/OS, then it might just not be aware of the root CA that Google is using. Although it is GlobalSign, and was issued in 2006, so that seems unlikely

Scenario 3 - Someone messed with the trusted root certificates on the device and removed the GlobalSign one.

 

If the device time was off, Chrome would be able to understand that. This is specifically issue with the authority that issued the given certificate - obviously not a trusted one.

 

Would be more helpful if you posted the certificate details from the browser.
