Hello \gamers. I am not sure if it's worth upgrading my PC. It's not s l o w, but it certainly isn't fast by any mean by today's standards.

CPU: Intel i7-860 @ 3.5GHz

Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E LX
RAM: mismatched total of 7GB (dont ask)

GPU: ZOTAC GTX 1060 3GB
PSU: Old ANTEC 80+ PSU, does the job

HDD: WD10EZEX

Other than the HDD which was new, total was less than 300$CAD, but still.

I was thinking of buying a Intel Xeon E5-2690, 16GB Ram ECC and a X79 motherboard, all from Aliexpress, since they're good value. GPU would be a 1070 Ti. Had one before, good GPU for me. My main uses would be playing League, CSGO, WoT, WoWS, stuff like that. Also streaming in 720p60, so yeah. Any recommendation? I really don't want to spend a fortune on a new PC so yeah lol.

Main PC: Intel i7-860 and Asus P7P55D-E LX (both for 15$) | Mismatched 7GB | WD10EZEX | ZOTAC GTX 1060 3GB | Antec EA500 (20$)

If you use 1070ti, then that PSU won't cut it.

I meant completely new PC with a new PSU. I would sell my entire PC and buy new parts.

If you're gonna step it up to the 2690 why not got that last extra mile and get an x3480? Unless you need the core/thread count to be that high, the x3480 will have higher clocks, better for gaming.

Although, it's not listed on the compatible CPU list, so you might want to double check that a xeon will work on that motherboard. If not, get an i7 880.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

WoT... I feel sorry for you. That probably would be an ok system. All the cores would help with streaming, and the clock speeds are pretty ok. You might get better gaming performance if you go for like a used 2700K or 3770K system though. That said, a 1060 should run all those games just fine at 1080p, which is what I assume you're playing at. I guess it would be a good upgrade, since it's sandy bridge era. Buy at your own risk on aliexpress though lol

Yeah those HUANAN motherboards are compatible with ECC + Xeons, so yeah. They actually sell a E5 1620 + Huana X79 ATX mobo + 4x4GB ECC for 380$CAD as a bundle which is fair imo, but yeah. And X3480 is LGA 1156 VS the LGA 2011 for the 2690 btw.

Oh wow really drew a blank there. So what does the pricing of the i7 4930k look like for you? Six faster cores are better than 8 slower cores for gaming.

Too much lol. Like 250$. I can get a Engineering Sample i7-6700, had one in the past. Works great. 125$ on Ali. Overclocks to base clock i7-6700 with BCLK so yeah idk. DDR4 though so extra $$

Oh well in that case a good overclock would be great for you. Actually you can manually bin for the good cores and then disable the 2 least efficient ones to get a faster 6 core CPU.
