Adblock making chrome unusable

I've used adblock for ages but since this week some issues are happening. I lost internet connection suddenly when using chrome, so I restarted my router, modem and nothing happened. So I opened up Microsoft Edge and my connection was fine, like the other devices on my network. When I tried to open an website on chrome a message appeared on the botton right corner saying "Waiting for adblock extension". So I unninstalled it and magically the website loaded. Whats going on? PS: I could still access my local server and router page on chrome but not the internet.
