HP Z420 with DDR3 ECC Registered RAM Compatibility

Hi guys! I've got an old HP workstation Z420 Motherboard (version 618263-002). In documentation I've read it supports only DDR3 ECC unbuffered memory (the ones ending with E like PC3-10600E) the DDR3 ECC Registered memory is not in official support list (the ones ending with R, like PC3-10600R). On some websites people keep writing it supports both of them. Does anyone actually have a working Z420 with registered ECC memory up and running?

Sadly no but it might depend on the CPU.

If you have a Xeon with Reg ECC Support it might work, as the Board already has a C-Chipset and not the X one.

But with a Core i7, you might be out of luck.
