GTX 1080, is it worth it? (dec. 2018)

Hello everyone,

 

I'm currently building a new system and I'm having doubts concerning the graphics card. I am considering buying an Asus Strix 1080 that a friend is selling for 450 euro (I live in France).

I have two major questions that I hope you will be able to help me answer:

 

Is 450€ a good deal for this graphics card?

Is a 1080 still a good option for 1440p at 144hz today?

 

I'm a fan of Nvidia and Asus, so I'm not considering buying an AMD graphics card. Also, my budget does not allow me to buy a new gtx 1080 ti, they are to expensive in Europe at this time.

Try to talk your friend down a little lower, get that friend discount! You're not some stranger off the web

 

The 1080 will last for a good few more years IMO. Especially if you're sticking to 1440p

Seems fine, although the GIGABYTE Aero 15X v8-BK4 15" Ultra Slim Gaming Laptop is also a good bet.
