Vulkan requirements

Hi all -

 

Crusing through LevelOneTech's videos and forum posts on Linux game support with Lutris, Proton, DXVK and Vulkan when the github site links a Wikipedia article of supported Nvidia and AMD GPUs under the main article Vulkan API. The GPU I'm looking at is supported (RX 470) but upon further investigation of the hardware compatibility chart Intel's Westmere X58 processors do not support Vulkan. I'd need an Ivy Bridge based system or higher to run Vulkan 1.0.

 

However, neither github or L1T reference CPU compatibility.

 

L1T: "Well, there is some additional info here. However, with Lutris and Ubuntu 18.04, you don't really have to manage this yourself. The dependencies are installed for you, except for the base Vulkan libraries."

 

L1T: " Step 1: Install Lutris on your already native-gaming capable gaming PC. (Optional sub-step, make sure Vulkan is installed. See steps above.) Step 2: Browse the Lutris website looking for your game, and finally Step 3: Run the lutris install script. 

 

Do I not need Vulkan installed to run Lutris's games? I really don't wanna go through the process of replacing the majority of my hardware. Edit: or is it talking about Intel's iGPUs not supporting Vulkan? help

yea... they don't have a gpu.

 

That list is only for the igpu, you put a rx480 on a x58 and vulkan works fine.

 

Any modern cpu should work fine.
