Glass Sides vs Steel?

Anyone got a preference? Only looking from a pure temps view. Couldn't care less about seeing components!

Purely on temperatures, I don't think you're not gonna see a noticeable difference.

Steel is way more durable though.

you can install fans in a steel side panel...

The plan is to go from front to back with no top, bottom or side fans so not too worried about mounting fans.

When compared to what though, flat steel?
If they're both flat surfaces air will move along them just the same.

 

If you're only putting fans on the front and back(tbf it wouldn't matter if you were putting them on the top, bottom, or side either) it won't make a difference what the case is made out of, the only thing that would affect the airflow there would be your components inside.

Sorry my bad, meant to say that most steel cases I am looking at have digits or vents in the side.

If I plan to blow front to back, will the steel with vents and digits not mess with that?

Doesn't effect temps nor aiflow in anyway. Not that side. Other will radiate some heat from mobo to outside so back there steel/aluminum is best.

You can also to acrylic side panel. You know, the ones which were used before tempered glass became mainstream thing.

Glass doesn't cause more air friction than steel or vice versa.  

 

The only thing that may impact anything, to a degree or two, would be if steel was radiating heat better than glass.   The room is cooler than the air in the case and it may bleed heat a tiny bit.

You cant drill tempered glass... for the most part anyway

You would risk shattering the glass. Acrylic is hardly that different than glass in terms of looks anyway. Same way as steel isn't that different from aluminum in terms of looks. Difference comes as glass/steel is heavier and glass/aluminum is considered to be premium material (as they are by default more expensive or harder to make).

 

If you are looking to just get case, get one without window or whatever is cheepest and has all other features you want.

Just mean the acrylic  will be scratched to bits which is why I would use an acrylic if I can avoid it.
