What's car ownership cost like in Canada?

As for the state, I am actually looking into Newfoundland but I ain't too bothered about specific states just in general. (Aware it varies from state to state) 

Basically what I am curious about is for people under 25 with a random car as an example, say an older Civic or cars after the early 2000

 

What would paperwork be like from purchasing the vehicle to getting it registered? (I am more interested in a rough idea of the proccess than the cost here) 

What would insurance be like for someone without a past record? 

Parking charges?
