Difference between dvi and dvi-dl ports and cable and Monitor Sugestions

GodMarcos

Hey, i was thinking of buying an 144Hz monitor and i got kinda scared when i discovered that you can't get 144Hz with all outputs.
I've been using and DVI-I to DVI-I cable to link my graphics card this one to my monitor and i saw that it could only reach 60Hz on the internet.
It also as 2 mini display ports and this is where the questions start.
Should i aim at a monitor with DVI-DL, or just DVI since i saw that has long as i use a DVI-I to DVI-DL cable it'll work (do all monitors have DVI-DL or some of them have DVI-I?).
Or should i aim at a monitor with display ports?
I wantes to use the HDMI for my 2nd monitor and DVI to my main one but maybe i can use the DVI on the 2nd monitor, the display on the main one and the HDMI on my TV.
I usually dont have doubts about this stuff but i really never aimed for more than 60Hz and i want to be sure before i buy the monitor.
Also any monitor sugestions with 144Hz around the 200$ price with freesync and around 24"?

24" 144Hz monitors within $200 all use TN panel mind you, so crappy viewing angles, shoddy black levels and moderate colours. They are often bright as the sun though

Usual choices are AOC G2460, Benq XL2411 and Asus VG248Q (might have extra letters at the back of the name, to seperate minor differences between models). The Asus one is the worst because of the color (heavy blue tint), but none will compete against IPS in picture quality.

Sometimes Samsung C24FG70 (officially CFG70 24") goes on a discount, and is a much better option than those TN equipped monitors with its VA panel.  It's nearly as good as an IPS panel... But then there isnt any high refresh rate 1080p IPS monitors, so VA is as good as much as it could get

Why don’t you just use the minidisplay ports and skip dvi?

I probably will, i was just trying to understand the dvi stuff so if i have an issue, or for some reason i need to use DVI i know if it'll work

Ok. Then for that card, the max you can reach with dvi is 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz.

I'm thinking about a FHD Display and from what i saw either dvi-dl or dp port will provide 144Hz. Now i just gotta find the right monitor

What do you think of the ACER ED242QR , the MSI Optix G24C

I kinda decided to go for the samsung anyway. Saw it in a store and it looks amazing and has an awesome build quality.
