Refresh rate issue that I can't identify

Hey guys!

 

Every time I exit a game (PUBG or Overwatch) and return to the desktop my 144hz monitor resets to 59hz. Attempting to change back to 144hz is useless, both via Windows Display Settings and Nvidia Control Panel.

The only way to resolve it is to restart the PC then change it from 59hz to 144hz in Windows/Nvidia. That only solves it until the next time I launch and then exit from a game. 

Monitor: CFG73
GPU: GTX 1060

Reinstalled both Monitor/GPU drivers on numerous occasions but no improvements.

My connection is via Display Port 1.2


Anyone familiar with a way to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance
