Quanta Custom laptops and World Quanta Resellers
Quanta-Computer.png
Quanta is a taiwanese ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) and it is one of the biggest with Compal. They design and produce their laptops and the most part of branded laptop like Dell, Alienware, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Gigabyte, Aorus, wich are only OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), are really made by Quanta and Compal. OEMs use barebones made by ODMs like Quanta, Compal, Clevo or also Pegatron and Foxconn. Old Alienware were Clevo's barebones until 2003 and now they are prodiuced by Compal.

What is a custom laptop?

It is a laptop in which you have the ability to choose how much RAM to put, to choose between what SSD / HDD or different panels, cpus and gpus.
It is also useful to be able to take a barebone without disks and license.

Digitimes Research: Top-5 notebook brand and top-3 ODMs see shipments slide on month in July
in July
Jim Hsiao, DIGITIMES Research, Taipei
Monday 21 August 2017

Toggle DropdoWith inventory preparation for back-to-school demand reaching an end in June, first-tier notebook vendors' shipments slowed down in July with the top-5 brands' combined shipments dropping 31% on month and top-3 ODMs' combined volumes down 22%.

But top vendor Hewlett-Packard (HP), which enjoyed strong sales in both the consumer and enterprise sectors in the first half of 2017, still produced impressive results on a yearly basis. It has been pushing its notebook shipments aggressively in the second half of the year, and its shipments in July rose 33% on year.

Dell surpassed Lenovo for the second time in 2017 in July and went up to second place thanks to the expanding replacement trend in the enterprise sector, according to Digitimes Research's latest notebook shipment monthly update.

Lenovo's July shipments slid 15% on year and are likely to see weak performances for the rest of the second half of 2017. Asustek Computer's shipments also slipped dramatically in the month because of its business reorganization.

The top-2 ODMs' combined share of Taiwan's overall shipments went up in July. Compal Electronics and Quanta Computer both achieved around 20% on-year shipment growths in July because of orders from US-based clients, while Inventec and Pegatron Technology saw on-year shipment declines.

Quanta 4Q17 revenues to benefit from new iMac Pro, says paper
Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES, Taipei
Thursday 14 December 2017

https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20171214VL201.html

Apple began selling its new iMac Pro priced starting US$4,999 in several countries on December 14 and the orders are expected to greatly boost sales at its ODM, Quanta Computer, in the fourth quarter, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News report.

The new iMac Pro features a 5K display, AMD's Vega graphics card, an 18-core Intel Xeon processor and 4TB of SSD.

Apple is outsourcing the orders to both Quanta and Foxconn, but Quanta has a larger portion of the volumes, the report said.

Quanta's consolidated revenues in October and November were both over NT$90 billion (US$2.98 billion) and the company is expected to be able to maintain a strong performance in December, with its 2017 revenues standing a chance of surpassing NT$1 trillion, added the report.

"Quanta continues to be largest notebook ODM for HP in 2017
Aaron Lee, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Monday 13 February 2017]

HP has decided on the distribution of orders among its four main Taiwan-based ODMs for notebook to be launched in 2017, with Quanta Computer maintaining the status as the largest accounting for 35% of HP's planned total orders, higher than the 32% in 2016, according to industry sources.

Based on an estimated 35 million notebooks to be shipped by HP in 2017, Quanta will grab orders for 12.25 million units in total, the sources said. In addition to HP, Quanta is also the largest notebook ODM for Apple, Acer and Asustek Computer, the sources noted. Quanta shipped 40.4 million notebooks in 2016, dipping 6.67% on year.

Wistron and Compal Electronics each will account for 25% of HP's planned orders in 2017, with the proportion for Wistron rising from 9.8% for 2016 and for Compal dropping from 31%, the sources indicated.

Inventec, despite being the largest ODM of HP business-use notebooks, will see its proportion of orders decrease from 25% in 2016 to 15% in 2017, the sources said."

so Quanta makes 35% of HP production, Compal Electronics makes 25% and Winstron makes another 25% and Inventec makes a 15%.

Yes. Same chassis with Illegear Laguna. I can confirm this because I asked them before. Only thing is Illegear tends to make some design changes to their laptops, internal is still the same.
