Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0

Milos Sladic

My previous build (05-Jul-2017):

  • Intel Core i5-4670
  • ASUS Z97I-PLUS
  • Kingston HyperX Fury 2x8GB (1600MHz)
  • Kingston UV400 480GB
  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit Single Language
  • Everything was on stock, nothing was overclocked. Other components weren't changed.

My build now:

  • Intel Core i5-8600K
  • ROG STRIX Z370-G GAMING
  • Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8GB (3000MHz)
  • Crucial MX300 525GB M.2
  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • Everything is on stock, except RAM (running at 3000MHz).

I didn't expect to gain much bigger score if any, coz the benchmark is heavily gpu based, but on the contrary I lost 7.3%. The only question I have is, why?

Did you only do 1 run? Benchmarks will give you a different score every time. And heaven does virtually nothing with your CPU so that should make no difference. Typically a standard deviation of about 5fps is normal because it depends on what GPU boost does.

Several times with each build (+-0.3 FPS per run). The GPU is Palit KalmX (passive cooling) so considering the case and fans are the same in both cases, the boost should have been the same.
