Need help extending dads wifi

My dad has a wireless router in his house, and now he wants wifi in his garage, which is basically a steel box, he gets some signal on the end nearest to his router and wants his whole garage to have wifi for his phone and smart TV,

Best way is to run an Ethernet cable into the garage or as close as you can and connect an access point to it to provide a WiFi signal. 

 

You'll likely come across WiFi extenders, but I wouldn't recommend them, they tend to be crap.

You can buy an old laptop and use it as a wifi extender from a junkyard for $20

I would not do this

take the effort and run a cat6 to the garage, probably run 2 while you are at it.

install an AP
