Intel B250 DDR4 RAM speed

hi, i'm currently using 4GBx2 2400MHz kit with this chipset with a kaby lake processor. i'm going to upgrade to 8GBx2 kit. if i buy ram faster than 2400 (XMP ram) will it run on the advertised speed or will it downclock to 2400 because of chipset limitations. just wondering will b250 run the ram on 2666/2800/3000/3200 (XMP enabled)? i dont want to waste money to buy faster ram if the chipset did not support. btw my mobo do support XMP. any help is totally appreciated.
