PC fans painting tutorial

Hello all.

Myself being an asthetics freak and a car painter couldnt stand the bandage color scheme of noctuas fans. I am a noctua fan (no pun intended), they probably make the best aircooling systems around but the fan color scheme in my opinion is just hideous. So i decided my nh-d15 cooler needs a makeover and wanted to share the process for anyone that may need help.

Tools you will need

-gray or red scotch brite

-masking tape

-aerosol plastic primer (usualy transparent

-aerosol paint of your choice ( i strongly advise going with acrylics since enamels have a longer drying time)

First of all mask off your fan. Take your thime whit this step. It took me about 5 minutes but i mask 3 cars a day so take your time even if it takes an hour it will be worth it in the end20170820_144535.thumb.jpg.66d86ef452cc684d772c3d43287e919c.jpg

Next use scotch brite and take your time to rub down all the parts to be covered with paint.

Spray a very thin layer of plastic primer all over the fan and wait 10 mins for it to dry.

Next start spraying the paint of your choice in thin layers. Do not overbuild the paint, since it can run and ruin the adhesion properties. The first coat should look like this

Bild up thin layers until ful coverage is achieved and let it dry for 30min. Wait 5 mins bettwen layers. Consider that using lighter colors you may need more coats to achieve full coverage.

The end result should look something like this20170820_150549.thumb.jpg.8806506da1b13cf7f9523ec51a0f103a.jpg
