1 Original Xbox, 1 Noob

I got this original Xbox free off a buy and sell page, ordered the cables and it doesn't turn on. I was thinking of using it as a case for my PC. What should I expect for challenges, what tools (beyond the proprietary screw driver) do y'all think I need? Has anyone tried this before, if so, how'd it go?

Have you tried restarting it?

No, after I posted it I realized there is a different sub forum for case modding.

Have you tried restarting it?

sizewise, it should fit a matx board and some peripherals.. you'd have to get a SFX power supply as the regular atx ones won't fit..

i'd gut the xbox completely, then dremel down any plastic that stands up from the ground, then i would probably just find a piece of mdf or something and glue it into place in the botttom of the case and mount the hardware on top of that.

i would also cut holes in the lid as i'm not sure how good ventilation it gets when everything is closed up (it will get much hotter than a original xbox)

you'll have to modify the power and reset buttons if you want to use them, i think they are soldered onto a pcb which controls them (long time since i modded my old xbox)

you could probably convert the controller ports to usb, and mod the connector cable to have usb outputs or just replace them completely, but it will look kinda janky either way.

you'll also have to cut openings for the cables..

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?

Did you have the "proprietary" screw driver? Its Torx something...

Have you tried restarting it?
