Is Linux good for recording audios?

Just wondering if I could use my Linux laptop for recording my voiceovers? Becuase Windows 10 is kinda crap when it comes to recording audio. So I have to find any cheap alternatives other than Mac OS.

My laptop uses Linux Lubuntu which is based on Linux Ubuntu.

or your settings.

modern consumer soundcards / usb microphones or headsets have tons of features to turn on like noise canceling and whatnot wich works more or less as expected. (most of the time it's pretty crappy)

but anyways ... if all you wanna do is record some voiceovers, do some basic edits and throw them into your video editor then take a look at audacity.

it is available on windows, linux and mac.

Definitely a hardware issue, but try changing your sampling rate from 44.1KHz to 48KHz or visa versa. My previous laptop was noisier at 44.1KHz than it was at 48KHz.

Just test if Linux has proper support for whatever mic/audio in you are going to use for recording stuff. Beyond that they should all be same. Software is just for handling settings and stuff like that. OS has really little to do with it.

Different operating systems are not better or worse for sound quality. They are likely the same or almost no difference. It has to do with your hardware, as others have said. If you find a hissing sound, just try a different microphone or headset and see if the hissing sound continues. Because there is a good chance it is your sound input device.

Hello! It's me just passing through :)
